Who We Are

The Ohio Plan is a member-driven alternative property and liability insurance program focused on providing affordable and comprehensive coverage along with a wide range of risk management services to Ohio local governments and special districts. We utilize independent agents throughout the state of Ohio. These agents are experts in their field and can help create a program specific to every member’s needs.

What We Do

Since 1988, we have helped Ohio’s public entities find creative solutions to their property and casualty needs. Our underwriting, risk management and claims teams – along with our regional representatives – work to provide the most comprehensive solutions to meet our members’ needs. Overseen by our board of directors, we constantly strive to better serve our members and enable them to better serve their communities. Through this approach, we’ve been honored to serve many of our members for over 25 years.

Why We Do It

In 1988 we created the Ohio Plan because public entities found it very difficult to obtain cost effective and quality coverage. Over the years, our products and services have expanded and we now offer a comprehensive package that meets any governmental entity’s needs. Our board of directors includes public officials throughout the state, which allows us to understand the unique challenges public entities face and offer appropriate protection.
