Who We Are
The Ohio Plan was formed in 1988 and, because of its affordable quality protection, it
has become the most successful alternate insurance plan in the state.

Today, the Plan provides more than 500 members insurance protection specifically tailored to cities, villages, townships, counties and special districts, including fire districts, water districts, and park districts.

In response to market conditions and repeated member requests, the Ohio Plan Healthcare Consortium was formed to provide cost-effective, quality healthcare benefit options for employees and their families. The program is designed for rate stability and cost savings through the strength of the collective membership of the Ohio Plan.

Administration
The Ohio Plan Healthcare Consortium is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of public officials selected from the membership. The Board of Directors contracts with a qualified administrator to perform the tactical duties of the Ohio Plan Healthcare Consortium. The Board reviews the administrator's performance and provides the strategic direction of the Ohio Plan. The administrator provides sales/service management, underwriting, risk control, accounting and claim services for the Plan. Legal counsel, actuarial and auditing services are provided independently under separate outside contracts.
